Carpet Wine Stains

1. The best chance to remove carpet stains is to attend to them as quickly as possible. Always blot liquid stains with dry, white absorbent cloths or white paper towels. For semi-solids, remove them as much as you can with a spoon before using stain removal procedures to clean off stains.

2. Remember to always follow the basic rule of thumb – Never scrub any stains. Scrubbing will just push the stains deeper into the pile. Always blot with clean, soft towels.

3. You should only use white rags or towels when you clean carpet and upholstery to reduce the risk of ruining colors or color transfer.

4. You may use foaming cleaners to clean your entire upholstery, even though it may state to dry clean only. Visit your local Auto Zone to pick up the auto upholstery and carpet cleaner in the can. Tuff Stuff is one of the best you can get base on my personal experience. Almost all cleaners that come in a can are foaming cleaners, the foam in these canned cleaners will penetrate the fibers upon contact and as it foams, it will release and suspend the stains and soils. You may need to lightly scrub the areas with a towel or soft bristled brush, which will make your work a lot easier.

  1. Great post. Blotting is really the main thing we should do when we spill some colourful liquid on something. The sooner you blot the liquid, the easier to clean the stain.

  2. John is absolutely right - the main thing in stain removal is blotting the spilled liquid as soon as possible.
    Great post with great tips.
One more advice from me - do not rub a stain when you are trying to remove it, just blot it.
